Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Ellijay offers a paradise of forests, rivers, streams but perhaps Ellijay is best known for the world renowned Georgia Apple Festival. Ellijay is Georgia’s Apple Capital, as it provides our nation with more than 600,000 bushels of apples each year. Every fall visitors flood into Ellijay for the Apple Festival but it’s also a great year round getaway.
Water surrounds Ellijay -- the Cartecay, Ellijay and Coosawattee Rivers all flow through here as well as beautiful Carters Lake which at 400 feet deep, is Georgia’s deepest lake. With great hiking, biking, horseback riding and fishing, Ellijay is a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.
Located just outside of Ellijay, The Coosawattee River Resort is a 5,500 + acre development consisting of more than 7,000 individual, privately owned lots divided by 12 miles of the beautiful Coosawattee River. The Coosawattee River is formed where the Ellijay and Cartecay River meet and then travels for six or seven miles where it becomes Carter’s Lake, a gorgeous recreational lake formed by the Corps of Engineers. This area is home to wildlife of all descriptions – deer, wild turkeys, raccoons, bears, eagles, hawks and more, along with our stocked fishing pond for year around enjoyment.
Coosawattee is a gated community and offers amenities range from indoor and outdoor swimming pools, camp sites, river parks, tubing (during the summer season), weight room, game rooms, miniature golf, horse shoe pits, tennis courts and basketball courts.
Located on 515 between Ellijay and Blue Ridge, Cherry Log is a delightful community for those who want to be centrally located. North Georgia Vacation Cabins for rent in Cherry Log provide close proximity to the best of Ellijay and Blue Ridge and are generally easy to get to from Atlanta.
